Launched in conjunction with a new advertising campaign for Guinness beer, this British comedy was directed by Ronald Neame and stars Alec Gunness.
The Card was directed by Ronald Neame and offered the first adult role for Petula Clark (granting her a first screen kiss!).
A little less popular with critics than it was with audiences (who liked it a lot), it was adapted from a comic novel by Arnold Bennett and features a range of recognisable faces - not least the recently departed Glynis Johns, but also Joan Hickson, Michael Hordern, Wilfrid Hyde-White, an uncredited Kenneth More and Edward Chapman (perhaps best remembered now from A Stitch in Time, with Norman Wisdom in 1963).
